1972-2022 5Oe Anniversary EUMASS foundation

In 2022, EUMASS celebrate its 50th anniversary in a festive way , followed by a jubilee congress in 2023 in Strasbourg.

Indeed on 17 March 1972 in Orleans, France, during a meeting of French Medical Advisers, the French medical director, Dr Claude Persignan and a Belgian observer Dr René Rénard discussed the idea of an organisation of Medical Advisers, of the then existing Common Market countries (European Economic Community (EEC): Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and West Germany) to promote scientific and social exchanges between the member states. The idea of EUMASS was born and encountered enthusiast reaction of the field of social insurance physicians. About ten colleagues of the six countries constituted in 1972 in Leuven (BE) the first council of the UEMASS .

To these founding countries have been added over the years in alphabetical order Austria, Bosnia, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Iceland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic, Romania, United Kingdom, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden and Switzerland.

On 23rd September 2022 we had a festive academic session in the Palais des Académies, Brussels.
